Benefice Walking Group

The recently formed Benefice walking group is open to all (including family and friends) who worship at Cotham Parish Church and St Pauls, Clifton. The short term plan it to meet every 5-6 weeks on a Sunday over the autumn and winter, following walks relatively close to Bristol of between 3 and 6 miles. We aim to set off around midday from Cotham church taking a packed lunch with us. There is also the possibility of a walk together on new year’s day of a more local and gentle nature if there is enough interest.
Next spring and summer the more energetic amongst us may venture further afield, perhaps as far as the Brecon Beacons for a more strenuous hike. For further information contact John Bean on 01179682867 or a.john.bean@ (remove this part—it’s to stop junk-mail)

Benefice walk Sunday 26th April near Cranham

I’m proposing a shortish walk up in the Cotwolds after church on 26th April starting near Prinknash Abbey. It’s a round walk of 5-6 miles with some climbing, the occasional stile and hopefully the chance to see some bluebells in Buckholt wood. As usual please bring a packed lunch although there should be an opportunity to stop for a drink in Cranham on the way. John Bean ffi contact

Benefice walk Sunday 1st March around Sand Point

Around ten of us did a circuit of 3-4 miles around the peninsula with lovely views over the Severn but in deteriorating weather. See before and after photos (why sit in the comfort of your sitting room watching the rugby when you could be standing in a hail blasted car park) . John Bean

Upton Cheyney and North Stoke (18/1/15)

Eight of us (plus two dogs) met after church at Swineford on a beautiful afternoon for a round walk passing through North Stoke and returning by Upton Cheyney. It involved a good pull up the hill but with the reward of lovely views finishing off with tea and cake in Upton Cheyney.

Coastal path from Walton in Gordano (7/12/14)

Four of us followed a relatively easy round from Walton in Gordano along the coastal path in beautiful sunshine. After a (second) spot of lunch at Ladye bay near Clevedon we finished by walking through the church yard, all fitted out ready for Christmas.
